JianJing attended the Opening Ceremony of the 7th Meeting of the China-Italy Entrepreneurship Committee and the Sub-forum Event

    On July 28, 2024, Premier Li Qiang attended the opening ceremony of the seventh meeting of the China-Italy Entrepreneurship Committee with Italian Prime Minister Meloni at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing and delivered a speech.More than 150 entrepreneurs from China and Italy attended. Chinese Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao presided over the opening ceremony. The meeting was co-organized by the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Italy, and hosted by the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products, the Italian Foreign Trade Commission and the Federation of Italian Industrialists. It aims to strengthen trade and investment cooperation between Chinese and Italian enterprises in the fields of machinery manufacturing, automobile, energy, agricultural science and technology, medicine, finance and fashion consumption. The conference includes an opening ceremony and parallel forums.

   Li Qiang said that over the past 10 years since its establishment, the China-Italy Entrepreneurship Committee has played a positive role in promoting economic and trade cooperation between the two countries and the development of bilateral relations. Against the backdrop of the current sluggish recovery of the world economy, China and Italy need to strengthen economic and trade cooperation and inject more momentum into the development of the two countries. China and Italy should vigorously carry forward and practice the Silk Road spirit of peace and cooperation, openness and inclusiveness, mutual learning and mutual understanding, and mutual benefit and win-win situation, maintain the enthusiasm of two-way to run to, adhere to the principle of reciprocity and mutual benefit, and always have the breadth of mind of each other's achievements, and continue to support each other's development, and work hand in hand to achieve common prosperity.

   Li Qiang pointed out that the continuous and in-depth development of China-Italy comprehensive strategic partnership will create more stable expectations, bring more extensive opportunities and attract more abundant resources for China-Italy economic and trade cooperation. China is promoting Chinese-style modernization with high-quality development, and the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee has made systematic deployment for further deepening reforms in a comprehensive manner and promoting Chinese-style modernization, which will not only push China's economy to grow at a relatively fast pace, but also promote the optimization and upgrading of the economy, continue to release huge development potential, and provide vast space for the cooperation between enterprises of the two countries. At present, the new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial changes are advancing in depth, and the cooperation and reshaping of the global industrial chain is pregnant with infinite business opportunities. China and Italy should explore new opportunities for cooperation in line with the general trend, and take the mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries to a deeper level. We should support enterprises of both sides to explore the potential of cooperation in intelligent manufacturing, new energy, biomedicine and other fields, and continue to expand the breadth and depth of cooperation.

      Li Qiang emphasized that China's open door will always be open to enterprises from Italy and other countries. We will create a transparent, stable and predictable institutional environment, further liberalize market access, guarantee national treatment for foreign-funded enterprises, and provide more support and convenience for enterprises from all countries to invest and prosper in China. We hope that Chinese and Italian entrepreneurs will seize the opportunity and move forward side by side to realize greater development of their own enterprises, as well as to make the cake of common interests of the two countries bigger and bigger, and to tighten the relationship of friendship and cooperation between the two countries more and more.

      Meloni said that in the face of the current complex and volatile global situation, Italy and China should strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership, give full play to their complementary advantages and enhance economic and trade cooperation. Italy is willing to work with China on the basis of mutual respect and trust, fairness and mutual benefit to expand practical cooperation in the fields of economy and trade, investment, artificial intelligence and other areas, innovate cooperation modes, unleash the potential of cooperation, enhance the competitiveness of enterprises, and join hands to deal with global challenges. We look forward to more fruitful results in Italy-China economic and trade cooperation, adding new impetus to the development of relations between the two countries.

     On July 29, the five sub-forums of the seventh meeting of the China-Italy Entrepreneurs Committee were held as scheduled, which are: Energy/Sustainable Development sub-forum hosted by Bank of China and Ansaldo Energy Company, Medical sub-forum hosted by China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Mechanical and Electrical Products, High technology/Machinery manufacturing/Automotive/Logistics sub-forum hosted by the Italian Automobile Industry Association, food/Agricultural technology sub-forum hosted by the Federation of Italian Industries and China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Food, Soil and Livestock, And the Fashion Cooperation/Home/daily Necessities sub-forum hosted by China Textile Import and Export Chamber of Commerce.

     President Xi Jinping said during his meeting with Prime Minister Meloni,China and Italy are located at the two ends of the ancient Silk Road, and the long history of friendly exchanges between the two countries has made important contributions to the exchanges and mutual understanding between the civilizations of the East and the West and to the development and progress of the human society, and the spirit of the Silk Road, which has peace and cooperation, openness and inclusiveness, mutual learning and mutual understanding, and mutual benefit and win-win situation at its core, is a common wealth of China and Italy. China is willing to promote the optimization and upgrading of traditional cooperation in economic and trade investment, industrial manufacturing, scientific and technological innovation, and third-party markets, and to explore cooperation in emerging fields such as electric vehicles and artificial intelligence. China welcomes Italian enterprises to invest in China, is willing to import more Italian quality products, and hopes that the Italian side will also provide a fair, transparent, safe and non-discriminatory business environment for Chinese enterprises to develop in Italy.       In order to promote the cooperation and development of China and Italy in trade, investment, science and technology, tourism and other economic and trade fields, to build a new platform for direct exchanges between enterprises of both sides, and to provide a new channel for efficient communication between enterprises and governments, according to the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on cooperation between the Ministry of Commerce of China and the Ministry of Economic Development of Italy, signed in January 2014, the governments of both countries support the establishment of the Sino-Italian Committee of Entrepreneurs, which absorbs the representatives of the key cooperation fields of both countries Representatives of well-known enterprises in key areas of cooperation between the two countries will be included in the Committee. The Bank of China is the Chinese Chairman of the Entrepreneurship Committee, and the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products (CCCME) is the Chinese Secretariat; the Italian Savings and Loan Bank (Banca della Salvaguardia) is the Italian Chairman, and the Italian Foreign Trade Commission (CICO) and the Confederation of Italian Industrialists (Confederazione Industriale Italiana) are the Italian Secretariat. The Ministry of Commerce of China and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Italy are the coordinators of the Enterprise Committee.
